Anywhere Foyer (2022)

The foyer is where the museum is created. Without this transition from the ordinary to the special no museum experience can emerge. Through the application of a foyer anywhere can become a museum. Museum can emerge in the unlikeliest places and where it might be unclear what or who might be the subject of the exhibiton.

The space that was created in this project is a foyer that acts only as a liminal passage into a museum experience that could be had anywhere. The busy shopping street of the Lijnbaan, the Europort, Katendrecht, in Rotterdam or elsewhere. A look at our own lives and entanglements through the eyes of a museum visitor could proof very revealing. A group of initiated visitors would observe the doings of others who are unaware of the exhibiton that is centered around them.

Three helium filled balloons float a nylon cloth into a tent. Portable and adaptable it is ideally suited to create a passage experience of a Foyer almost anywhere.
